John Hourigan is the immediate past National President of the MIA. John Hourigan started his immigration career with the Department of Home Affairs. He has served the Department both in Australia and overseas before leaving the Department as a senior executive officer. After building a successful immigration practice at one of Canberra’s leading law firms, John decided to return to private practice running his own immigration practice. He presents Continuing Professional Development programs to registered migration agents in Australia and overseas, and has also lectured in immigration law at the Australian National University. John also consults to other practicising registered migration agents John holds formal immigration law, management and accounting qualifications and has completed the Applied Immigration Assessment and Practice Management Course II and assessment. John is the only MIA member in Canberra to be admitted with the status of FELLOW.
